Bryan Furman: Public Diplomacy Officer

Bryan Furman ’13 majored in psychology and international studies and minored in Central Eurasian studies and Russian studies.  After spending the 2011-2012 academic year in Russia on a Boren Scholarship, Bryan applied for a Fulbright U.S. Student Award to Tajikistan.

There, he conducted research on psychosocial service provision, focusing on the interaction between international organizations, local NGOs, and the Tajik government in the mental health sector.  Bryan also worked closely with the U.S. Embassy and USAID Missions on public diplomacy and development initiatives.

While on his Fulbright, Bryan received a Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship to fund an M.A. in Eurasian, Russian, and East European Studies at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.  Upon graduation, Bryan will join the U.S. Foreign Service as a Public Diplomacy Officer.
